Williment, Lorne

Lorne Williment March 11, 1944 – March 30, 2011

Lorne was born into a farming family in the Opawaka District.  He was the second son of Edgar and Myrtle and carried on the tradition of farming.  As a farmer, it was important for him to take care of the land and preserve it for future generations.  This was evident through his involvement with Deerwood Soil and Water projects as well as Ducks Unlimited.

Lorne was married to Beverley and together they raised their three children Wayne, Marlys and Kenneth. Lorne was kind and gentle to all; passing on his love of animals of all kinds to his children and grandchildren.

Lorne felt a great sense of commitment to his community.  He was a Councillor for the RM of Thompson for twelve years and was an active volunteer, for a number of years, with minor hockey, 4-H and the Agricultural Society.  He enjoyed spending time with members of the community and sharing with them his love of farming and the importance of taking care of the land.  Lorne would have been very proud of his community and all their efforts in establishing the Miami and Area Foundation.
